Companion Care of Cavalier County is a program based out of Cavalier County Memorial Hospital, which assists individuals to remain independent in their own homes.  The program provides services such as personal cares, housekeeping duties, respite for the caregiver, assistance with exercise programs and companionship.

Companion Care does not provide skilled nursing services.

Some of the specific tasks could be:

1.  Personal cares: assistance with bathing/showering; hair care; nail care (without circulation problems); shaving; oral hygiene; assistance with dressing; assistance with home exercise programs; medication reminders; etc.

2.  Housekeeping duties:  vacuuming; dusting; washing floors; clean bathroom/kitchen; take out trash; wash dishes; laundry; change bed linens; light meal preparation; errands ($2 each.)

3.  Respite for the caregiver:  Companion Care aide can spend time with client/engage in activities to give the caregiver a break.

The Companion Care Coordinator assists the client/family in setting up the care plan and provides supervision of the Companion Care program.  The services in the home are provided by the Companion Care aide.

The Companion Care rate for services is $17.00 for the first hour and $3.00 for each additional 15-minute unit (or part thereof) of the visit.  For clients living outside of Langdon, mileage is $0.41 per mile; travel time will be charged at the rate of $3.00 per 15-minute unit.  Errands are $2.00 per errand.

Services are available Monday through Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.
